Job Title

Mixed Signal Design Intern (2027)

Role Summary

12-week, full-time internship on a hardware mixed-signal design team. Interns work on measurable projects involving analog and mixed-signal circuit design, simulation, testing, and layout verification that contribute to product development.

Work includes hands-on design, lab testing, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to implement and verify mixed-signal blocks.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” internship for current university students (undergraduate or graduate). Intended for students with coursework or practical experience in analog/mixed-signal topics.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities during the internship include:

  • Design and simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits using SPICE/HSPICE and related tools.
  • Perform analog verification, noise and stability analysis, and corner/Monte-Carlo simulations.
  • Support layout and physical-design coordination and review.
  • Build and run lab tests using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and other test equipment; collect and analyze measurement data.
  • Implement and verify mixed-signal building blocks (PLLs, ADCs, DACs, bandgaps) and high-speed interfaces.
  • Document results, present findings to engineers, and iterate designs based on feedback.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience expected for applicants. Education enrollment requirements are summarized separately below.

Must-have (or strongly recommended):

  • Coursework or practical experience in analog fundamentals and analog simulation (noise analysis, loop stability, AC/DC/transient, Monte-Carlo).
  • Familiarity with SPICE/HSPICE and circuit simulation workflows.
  • Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and test setup.
  • Basic understanding of CMOS analog circuit design and layout fundamentals.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys tool flows, or other EDA tools.
  • Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL, Python, Perl, or MATLAB/Simulink for automation and verification.
  • Exposure to high-speed circuit design and serial communication standards, and to ADC/DAC/PLL design.

Education Requirements

Must be actively enrolled for the full duration of the internship in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Anticipated graduation month and year must be shown on the resume/CV.
