Microarchitecture and Design Engineer - AI SoC

Role Summary

Work on microarchitecture, RTL design, and integration for Intel's AI SoC products. The role is on the AI SoC team focused on delivering silicon that meets power, performance, area, and security targets across edge-to-datacenter AI products.

Expect collaborative work with IP providers, verification teams, and cross-functional design groups to implement, optimize, and validate SoC logic features.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically 3+ years of relevant experience in RTL/microarchitecture and SoC design.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and verify RTL microarchitecture features and ensure they meet system requirements.

• Develop logic design, RTL coding, and simulation (SystemVerilog) for SoC blocks.
• Define and implement architecture and microarchitecture features for logic blocks.
• Optimize RTL for power, performance, area, and timing targets.
• Perform RTL, timing, power, and design-integrity checks to meet performance goals.
• Integrate IP from providers and validate IP at the SoC level.
• Contribute to and review verification plans; diagnose and resolve RTL test failures.
• Apply secure development practices to address design security objectives and threats.
• Drive quality-assurance processes for IP and SoC handoff through the design flow.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: 3+ years experience in microarchitecture, RTL design, coding, and simulation using SystemVerilog.
• Must-have: Strong knowledge of system-level design principles including power, performance, and area optimization.
• Must-have: Experience with timing and power convergence methodologies and tools.
• Must-have: Experience diagnosing RTL test failures and ensuring feature correctness.
• Must-have: Ability to collaborate with IP providers and cross-functional teams for integration and validation.
• Nice-to-have: SoC architecture and SoC microarchitecture experience.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AI model implications for hardware and AI accelerator architectures.
• Nice-to-have: Proficiency with clock-domain crossing analysis and implementation techniques.
• Nice-to-have: Strong communication skills and track record of disciplined execution under tight deadlines.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Relevant combinations of degree, research, internship, or practical industry experience are acceptable.
