Job Title

Microarchitecture and Design Engineer - AI SoC

Role Summary

The engineer will design and implement microarchitecture and RTL for AI system-on-chip (SoC) logic blocks, integrate IP, and verify functionality to meet power, performance, area, and timing (PPA) goals. The role sits on an AI SoC product team and requires collaboration with verification, PHY/IP providers, and system engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Typical experience: 0–2 years (includes internships and academic project experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and integration of SoC logic.

  • Develop logic design, RTL code, and simulation for SoC components.
  • Define and implement microarchitecture features for logic blocks.
  • Perform RTL-level quality checks across timing, power, and design integrity.
  • Optimize RTL to meet power, performance, area, and timing targets.
  • Collaborate with IP providers to integrate and validate IP at the SoC level.
  • Contribute to verification plans and investigate/resolve RTL test failures.
  • Implement secure development practices to address security objectives in the design.
  • Drive quality-assurance processes for IP and SoC handoff through the design flow.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for initial consideration; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Hands-on RTL coding experience in Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience with logic design tools and methodologies: synthesis, timing analysis, and power optimization.
  • Experience with RTL simulation, debugging, and resolving test failures.
  • Knowledge of SoC design practices and IP integration at the chip level.

Preferred:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Interest or experience in secure design practices and quality-assurance processes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with 1+ years of hands-on experience; OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with no prior professional experience. Education and experience may be obtained through a combination of degree, research, internships, coursework, or relevant job experience.
