Microarchitect and RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design microarchitectures and implement RTL for highly configurable IP blocks used in single-die and multi-die systems. Work on performance-, power- and area-optimized designs and collaborate closely with software and verification teams to deliver production-quality IP.
This role is based in the UK offices (Cambridge or Bristol) and contributes to the company’s fabric and interconnect IP portfolio for data center, AI, automotive and edge markets.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8+ years of hands-on microarchitecture and RTL development experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on microarchitecture, RTL implementation, and cross-team integration for IP development.
- Design and develop microarchitectures for configurable IP blocks.
- Write and optimize RTL with attention to performance, power, and area.
- Collaborate with software teams to define configuration requirements and verification collateral.
- Work with verification teams on assertions, test plans, debug, and coverage analysis.
- Implement IP for caches, cache-coherency, memory subsystems, interconnects and NoCs.
- Debug and optimize pipelined, high-speed, and low-power designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- 8+ years of hands-on microarchitecture and RTL development experience.
- Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and RTL design methodologies.
- Experience with large, high-speed, pipelined, and stateful designs and low-power techniques.
- Deep understanding of on-chip interconnects and Network-on-Chip (NoC) concepts.
- Experience designing IP blocks for caches, cache coherency, memory subsystems, interconnects and NoCs.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with RAS, QoS in fabrics, and PCIe/IO.
- Experience with modern programming languages such as Python.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (BS/MS in EE, CE or CS) as stated in the posting.
