Memory IP Design Engineer
SynopsysJob Title
Memory IP Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on design, simulation, characterization, and integration of embedded memory IP (SRAM, ROM, Register Files) for production semiconductor products. The role sits on the memory IP design team in Noida and partners with layout, CAD, verification, and frontend teams to deliver memory blocks that meet PPA and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0–2 years) - early-career engineer with hands-on experience in CMOS circuit design and embedded memories.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include circuit design, verification, and cross-team integration.
- Design and simulate embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, Register Files) using Cadence Virtuoso and related tools.
- Support layout engineers to ensure design intent is preserved in physical implementation.
- Perform bitcell characterization and basic reliability analysis across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
- Debug circuit-level issues by analyzing simulations, identifying root causes, and proposing fixes.
- Collaborate with CAD, verification, and frontend teams on timing, integration, and compiler characterization.
- Automate repetitive tasks and data analysis using scripting (C‑Shell, Perl, Python).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; a few desirable skills listed separately.
- Must-have: 0–2 years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience, specifically with embedded memory (SRAM, ROM, or Register Files).
- Must-have: Working knowledge of memory architectures, bitcell fundamentals, read/write operations, and sense-amplifier behavior.
- Must-have: Experience with Cadence Virtuoso (schematic capture and simulation) and familiarity with waveform-based debugging.
- Must-have: Basic scripting skills (C-Shell, Perl, or Python) to automate tasks and analyze results.
- Nice-to-have: Experience supporting layout, memory compiler characterization for PPA, and reliability analysis across PVT corners.
- Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to characterization flows, EDA automation, or advanced process-node memory design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; a solid academic background in electronics, electrical, or computer engineering is expected.
