Memory IP Design Engineer

Role Summary

As a Memory IP Design Engineer on the Noida memory IP team, you will design, simulate, characterize, and validate embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, register files) for advanced process nodes. You will work with layout, CAD, verification, and frontend teams to deliver memory IP that meets performance, power, and area targets.

This is an early-career role focused on building practical memory circuit design skills in a production environment.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0 to 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in CMOS circuit design, particularly embedded memory.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and simulate embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, register files) using Cadence Virtuoso and related tools.
• Support layout work by collaborating with layout engineers to preserve design intent.
• Perform bitcell characterization and basic reliability analysis across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
• Debug circuit-level issues by analyzing simulation results, identifying root causes, and proposing fixes.
• Collaborate with CAD, verification, and frontend teams on timing, integration, and constraints.
• Characterize memory compiler targets for performance, power, and area (PPA).
• Automate repetitive tasks and improve design flow efficiency through scripting.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Hands-on CMOS circuit design experience with embedded memory (SRAM, ROM, register files).
• Working knowledge of memory architectures, bitcell design, read/write operations, and sense amplifier behavior.
• Experience using Cadence Virtuoso (schematic capture, simulation, layout interaction).
• Ability to read and analyze simulation waveforms and debug circuit issues.

Nice-to-have:

• Scripting experience in C-Shell, Perl, or Python to automate workflows and analyze data.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
