Memory Designer
QualcommJob Title
Memory Designer
Role Summary
Design and deliver ASIC memory IP and related blocks for high-performance, low-power SoCs. Work within the ASICS Engineering team to define architecture, implement logic or analog circuits, verify designs, and support integration into larger systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires multiple years of ASIC experience (minimums in job posting start at ~2 years; preferred candidates have ~3+ years).
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities include:
- Define, model, and implement memory IP/block designs (digital and/or analog) to meet system requirements.
- Create architectures, circuit/logic specifications, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Execute design flows from RTL through synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, and verification; or perform custom circuit/layout flows as applicable.
- Use EDA and design tools (e.g., RTL-to-GDS flows, Virtuoso) to enable block/SoC implementation.
- Collaborate with hardware and software architects and cross-functional teams to plan and execute implementation strategies.
- Write technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects and support integration and validation activities.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or equivalent practical experience (preferred 3+ years).
- Experience with architecture and design tools and flows.
- Practical scripting/programming experience for automation and tool usage.
- Knowledge of design verification methods and hands-on verification experience.
- Familiarity with RTL-to-GDS flows, EDA tools, or custom circuit design environments.
- Ability to work independently, communicate technical ideas clearly, and influence cross-team decisions.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years ASIC experience; OR Master's degree in Science/Engineering plus 1+ year ASIC experience; OR PhD in Science/Engineering. Preferred: Master's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
