Job Title

Memory Designer

Role Summary

Design and implement low-power, high-performance, area-efficient embedded memory circuits and architectures for SoC products. The role sits on the Memory IP team and collaborates with CAD and SoC teams (CPU, GPU, Modem, camera) to meet memory performance, power, and area targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates typically have multiple years of hands-on experience in embedded memory design (source mentions examples in the mid-single-digit years range).

Responsibilities

Primary duties include design, verification, and coordination across design and integration teams.

  • Develop custom digital circuits for high-speed, low-power SRAM designs.
  • Schematic capture and block-level simulation; perform margin and corner verifications.
  • Plan and supervise layout; work on tight pitch-matched memory layout designs.
  • Coordinate with CAD for full verification and model generation.
  • Collaborate with SoC teams to define and meet memory PPA (performance, power, area) targets.

Requirements

Key technical skills and domain experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience designing embedded memories for SoC applications (academic or professional).
  • Knowledge of CPU L1/L2 cache design and compiler SRAM/register-file architectures.
  • Experience with high-performance and low-power design techniques and an understanding of semiconductor device fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with variation-aware design in advanced nanometer CMOS and FinFET nodes.
  • Good understanding of how physical implementation affects circuit performance.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience supervising layout planning, interacting with CAD teams, or prior work on memory IP used in CPU/GPU/Modem subsystems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field were listed with experience-based minima: typical combinations noted were Bachelor's + ~6+ years, Master's + ~5+ years, or PhD + ~4+ years of relevant ASIC design/verification/integration experience. (Degrees in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical fields are implied.)
