Job Title
Memory Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate embedded memory circuits (SRAM bitcells, sense amplifiers, and peripheral circuits) for silicon IP. Work on circuit schematic-level design and SPICE simulation and collaborate with layout, verification, and CAD teams to deliver memory IP that meets performance, power, and reliability targets.
This role offers hands-on circuit work, mentorship from senior engineers, and the opportunity to contribute to memory IP used in SoCs for AI, automotive, and mobile products.
Experience Level
Entry-level (1β3 years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and simulate embedded memory circuits (SRAM bitcells, sense amps, peripheral circuits) using Cadence Virtuoso.
- Support and coordinate with layout engineers to ensure design intent is preserved in physical implementation.
- Run characterization simulations across PVT corners to validate performance, power, and reliability metrics.
- Debug circuit issues via waveform analysis and work with senior engineers to identify root causes and implement fixes.
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews with verification, CAD, and frontend teams to align on specifications and timelines.
- Document design decisions, simulation results, and technical tradeoffs in clear, reusable formats.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate simulation runs and data analysis.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 1β3 years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience; exposure to SRAM, ROM, or register file design preferred.
- Working knowledge of memory architectures, bitcell design, and basic analog circuit fundamentals.
- Experience using Cadence Virtuoso (schematic capture, SPICE simulation, and layout interaction).
- Familiarity with SPICE-level simulation, waveform interpretation, and extracting performance data.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience scripting in Python, Perl, or C-Shell to automate simulation and analysis tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
