Job Title

Memory Compiler Support and Development Lead

Role Summary

Lead the technical interface and engineering effort for third-party and in-house compiled memory IP (SRAM, ROM, compilers). Ensure memories meet AMD functionality, performance and technology requirements and integrate into AMD ASIC design flows.

Work with architects, hardware and firmware teams and external vendors to define requirements, validate silicon, and drive compiler development and integration.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Lead). No explicit years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include ownership of delivered memory compilers, vendor technical leadership, and in-house compiler development.

  • Serve as primary technical contact with third-party memory compiler vendors.
  • Define, qualify, and support multiple memory compilers across AMD products.
  • Collaborate with architects, hardware, and firmware teams to capture feature and timing requirements.
  • Lead vendor discussions on next-generation memory requirements and coordinate silicon validation.
  • Lead development of in-house memory compilers for specialized applications.
  • Ensure memory IP integrates with AMD design flows and resolve issues affecting customers.
  • Coordinate cross-site engineering efforts and provide technical guidance to teammates.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Proficient understanding of ROM/SRAM/TCAM architecture, operation, and requirements.
  • Must-have: Experience with memory validation: DFM, DRC, ERC, functionality checks, LVS, SPICE checks, and trend analysis.
  • Must-have: Working knowledge of Verilog, liberty files, SPICE simulation, and ASIC design flows.
  • Must-have: Scripting experience in a UNIX environment (C-shell, Makefile, Perl, or TCL).
  • Must-have: Experience with memory compilers and physical design; ability to lead vendor engagements and coordinate silicon validation.
  • Must-have: Strong communication and collaboration skills across distributed teams and time zones.
  • Nice-to-have: EMIR analysis, physical integration, routability, and SPICE characterization experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience developing memory compilers or leading in-house macro/IP development.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
