Memory Circuit Design Engineer - MN Rochester
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's Central Engineering Group focused on memory IP development. The team designs memory compilers and custom memory macros across advanced process technologies.
The role owns transistor- and gate-level circuit design, post-layout verification, characterization, and silicon correlation for memory macros integrated into system chips.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Analyze memory architectures and document trade-offs.
- Design and implement memory or circuit blocks at gate or transistor level.
- Perform transistor-level simulation and circuit analysis.
- Extract layouts and run post-layout simulations and verification.
- Floorplan physical implementation and integrate leafcell layouts to produce physical macros.
- Integrate characterization flows to extract timing and power metrics.
- Develop scripts to automate characterization, simulation, and verification flows.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
- Prepare design documentation, behavioral descriptions, and timing diagrams.
- Specify silicon test plans, correlate silicon to simulation, and support silicon debug.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:
Must-have:
- Proven experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memory circuits (SRAMs, register files, multi-port memories, ROMs).
- Deep understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
- Good knowledge of signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability analysis.
- Familiarity with memory behavioral and physical modeling and DFT/chip-level integration.
- Proficient with transistor-level simulators and EDA tool flows; tool-savvy and able to create automation scripts.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; self-driven and able to manage multiple tasks.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with silicon test setups and debug.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and data processing.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of related experience.
Compensation: Annual base salary range USD 109,700 to USD 175,500. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, equity awards, and paid leave.
