Memory Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design transistor- and gate-level memory circuit blocks and memory compilers, perform simulations and physical implementation, and deliver characterized memory macros for advanced process technologies. Work within a central engineering memory team responsible for memory compilers and custom macros.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. The role requires substantial hands-on experience; the posting specifies 8+ years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and integration of memory macros and related flows.
- Analyze memory architectures and document trade-offs.
- Design memory and circuit blocks at gate/transistor level (SRAMs, register-files, ROMs, multi-ports).
- Run transistor-level simulations and perform circuit analysis.
- Extract layouts and perform post-layout simulation and verification.
- Floorplan and integrate leafcell layouts to build physical macros.
- Integrate and automate characterization flows to extract timing and power data.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
- Prepare design documentation, timing diagrams, and silicon test plans; correlate silicon to simulation.
- Debug silicon issues and support silicon bring-up.

- 8+ years of relevant experience in memory or digital circuit design and compiler development.
- Strong knowledge of memory compilers and custom digital memory circuits (SRAM, register-file, multi-port, ROM).
- Deep understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
- Experience with transistor-level simulators, post-layout verification, and extraction flows.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, EM/IR, reliability analysis, and DFT/chip-level integration.
- Experience with silicon testing and debug; specifying silicon test plans.
- Proficient in scripting and automation for characterization, simulation, and verification flows; tool-savvy.
- Good communication and collaboration skills; ability to lead technical efforts.
- Nice-to-have: proficiency in Python.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering.
