Job Title

Memory Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

The role designs and validates embedded memory circuits and periphery for advanced CMOS process technologies. You will work with design, EDA, and product teams to develop memory IP, optimize power/performance/area, and support pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates meet the listed degree requirements with multiple years of relevant industry or internship experience (see Education Requirements for degree detail and the Qualifications section for experience guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, optimization, and validation of memory circuits and related IP.

  • Perform memory pathfinding and PPA optimization through design-technology co-optimization (DTCO) and product design enablement.
  • Design and automate layout for memory bit-cells and complex periphery circuits.
  • Develop memory arrays/IP, innovate memory circuits, and design test chips.
  • Execute pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation/debug to support yield and parametric ramp.
  • Collaborate with domain experts, EDA vendors, and product design teams to deliver memory technology collateral and IP.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience follow; preferred items are noted separately.

  • Must-have: Design, characterization, and verification of custom memory circuits (SRAM, register files, ROM).
  • Must-have: Understanding and application of PPA trade-offs for memory designs.
  • Must-have: Custom digital circuit design, simulation, layout design, and verification experience.
  • Must-have: Experience with EDA tools for custom digital and memory circuit design.
  • Preferred: Design technology co-optimization (DTCO) experience.
  • Preferred: Post-silicon validation and debugging experience.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of the CMOS ASIC design flow.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (with ~4 years professional experience including internships), OR a Ph.D. in one of these fields. Preferred: Ph.D. with 1–2 years of professional experience. No certifications specified.
