Micron TechnologyJob Title
Member of Technical Staff, NAND Advanced Thin Films Process Development
Role Summary
The Member of Technical Staff (MTS) in Advanced Thin Film Process Development leads experiments and material characterization to develop structural and electrical thin film processes for NAND memory. The role supports process integration, technology transfer and manufacturing ramp-up while collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and yield.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires approximately 10β15 years of experience in thin film research and development for NAND processes.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical development, experiments, integration, documentation, and mentoring.
- Lead projects to develop structural and electrical film processes, including low/high-k dielectrics and carbon-based films.
- Design, execute and analyze complex experiments; tune recipes and fix process issues.
- Perform material characterization and metrology to support process monitoring and qualification.
- Support process integration, technology transfer and manufacturing ramp-up activities.
- Maintain detailed experiment records and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership aligned with TLP entry expectations.
- Contribute to development and documentation of SOPs and knowledge-management systems, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 10β15 years experience in thin film R&D for NAND processes, particularly diffusion and CVD films.
- Expertise in thin film deposition: Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (plasma and thermal); recipe setup and process tuning.
- Proficiency with metrology and characterization tools: ellipsometry, X-ray reflectivity (XRR), SEM, TEM, CD-SEM, thickness measurement tools, and particle counters.
- Strong understanding of process integration, defect analysis, yield improvement, and electrical evaluation methods.
- Experience with process optimization and data analysis including SPC, DOE, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience implementing corrective actions and supporting technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
- Effective verbal and written communication and demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions.
- Preferred: publications or patents in relevant domains.
Education Requirements
PhD or equivalent degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
