Job Title

Member of Technical Staff (MTS) – Process Development, Thin Films (CVD/Diffusion), NAND

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor responsible for advancing NAND thin-film processes through project leadership, experimental execution, materials characterization, and integration support. Works within the process development team to deliver measurable technical results and ensure transfer and ramp readiness.

Provides technical guidance and mentorship to earlier-career engineers and participates in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement.

Experience Level

Senior. Explicit experience thresholds are provided based on degree level (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include leading projects, executing experiments, and supporting integration and ramp activities.

  • Lead project-level initiatives for structural and electrical thin-film processes (dielectrics, carbon-based films).
  • Design and execute complex experiments, analyze results, and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Support technology transfer, ramp-up, and multi-functional problem solving for process challenges.
  • Maintain thorough records and prepare comprehensive technical reports, SOPs, and knowledge artifacts.
  • Perform materials characterization and metrology work and interpret data to guide process actions.
  • Mentor and coach early-career engineers; provide technical leadership aligned with senior expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement and yield/defect reduction efforts.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into workflows where appropriate, following organizational and legal standards.

Requirements

Must-have technical and interpersonal skills for successful execution in a NAND thin-films R&D/process development role.

  • Deposition expertise: ALD and CVD (plasma and thermal); recipe setup, tuning, and fixing.
  • Metrology and characterization proficiency: ellipsometry, XRR, SEM, TEM; familiarity with fab metrology tools.
  • Integration, defect, and yield improvement knowledge; experience with RCA, DOE, and SPC methods.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication across audiences.
  • Project-level leadership, cross-functional collaboration, disciplined execution, and documentation skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring capability for earlier-career engineers.
  • Nice-to-have: publications, patents, or a strong record of technical contributions.

Education Requirements

Degree-based experience thresholds are specified: PhD with at least 8 years of relevant experience; Master’s with at least 11 years; Bachelor’s with at least 13 years. Relevant fields specified include Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical fields. (Experience requirements are tied to degree level as stated.)
