Job Title

Member of Technical Staff (MTS) – Process Development, Dry Etch, NAND

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor responsible for leading dry etch modules and advancing NAND scaling. Own key dry etch processes, drive equipment roadmaps with hardware teams, and lead cross-functional problem solving for yield, defectivity, and manufacturability.

Contribute technical leadership and mentorship while implementing robust, scalable etch solutions for current and next-generation NAND nodes.

Experience Level

Senior — PhD with >=8 years, Master’s with >=11 years, or Bachelor’s with >=13 years of relevant industry experience (as specified by employer).

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include leading dry etch development, collaborating with hardware teams, and directing multi-functional mitigation and improvement plans.

  • Lead development of dry etch technology and act as area expert for dry etch modules.
  • Develop and optimize dry etch processes to meet structural and electrical specifications; apply mechanistic understanding of parameter-to-outcome relationships.
  • Partner with hardware teams to define and drive equipment roadmaps for current and upcoming NAND products.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to solve complex structural and yield issues; create development and mitigation plans for current and future nodes.
  • Lead supplier evaluations, root-cause analysis (RCA), statistical process control (SPC), and corrective actions to close gaps.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers and support technical leadership development.
  • Promote cross-area collaboration and identify opportunities for coordinated solutions.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness, and contribute continuous improvement ideas.

Requirements

Must-have technical and interpersonal skills required for success in this role.

  • Advanced dry etch process development experience and deep plasma etch fundamentals.
  • Reactor knowledge and experience scaling high-aspect-ratio etches.
  • Design of experiments (DOE), SPC/statistics, and model-based problem-solving skills.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, mentorship mindset, and clear stakeholder communication.
  • Experience driving supplier engagements and corrective action processes.
  • Preferred: basic data science, Python coding, and experience with AI-assisted analysis.

Education Requirements

PhD with at least 8 years, or Master’s with at least 11 years, or Bachelor’s with at least 13 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (equivalent practical experience accepted where employer indicates).
