Job Title

Member of Technical Staff (MTS) – Process Development, Cell Film, NAND

Role Summary

Advance thin film process development for NAND cell film by leading project initiatives, executing experiments, performing material characterization, and supporting process integration and fixing. Promote manufacturability, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen SOPs and knowledge systems.

Operate as a key technical contributor delivering measurable results at the department/site level and provide mentorship to early-career staff.

Experience Level

Senior. See Education Requirements for degree and years-of-experience mapping.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include project leadership, experiment execution, documentation, integration, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead project-level initiatives for cell film process development and execute complex experiments and integration support under senior guidance.
  • Perform material characterization and process monitoring to support development and yield improvement.
  • Maintain thorough records and prepare comprehensive technical reports; communicate findings across cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in multi-functional problem solving, root cause analysis, SPC, DOE, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and knowledge management; support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement and optimization of existing processes.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness; identify, test, and share AI-enabled enhancements within scope of work.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and soft skills required for effective performance in the role. Preferred qualifications listed separately.

  • Experience in thin film R&D for microelectronic devices with demonstrated contributions to complex technology development.
  • Hands-on experience with ALD/CVD thin film processes, including recipe setup, process tuning, monitoring, and fixing in an R&D or fab environment.
  • Proficiency with film and fab metrology tools (ellipsometry, XRR, SEM/TEM, CD-SEM, thickness measurement, particle counters) for process monitoring, defect analysis, and yield improvement.
  • Solid understanding of process integration and ability to use SPC, DOE, and root cause analysis to optimize processes and resolve excursions.
  • Working knowledge of NAND cell structures, device physics, plasma processes, vacuum systems, and chemical reactions, with the ability to relate process conditions to material and device behavior.
  • Experience supporting technology transfer to manufacturing, developing SOPs and documentation, and communicating technical findings across cross-functional teams while adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Soft skills: structured problem-solving, learning agility, clear communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Preferred: publications, patents, or a strong record of technical contributions.

Education Requirements

PhD with ≥8 years, Master’s with ≥11 years, or Bachelor’s with ≥13 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (as specified in the posting).
