Job Title

Mechanical Hardware Design Engineer, IC Product

Role Summary

Lead mechanical design and execution for IC product test platforms and CPO optical products within the Networking division. Deliver mechanical/electrical specifications, board-level thermal and socket solutions, and system-level test interfaces used in production and reliability testing.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” role expects approximately 2+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, integration, and validation of mechanical solutions for test and production environments.

  • Define mechanical and electrical specifications; perform schematic support and component selection for test boards.
  • Design sockets and thermal solutions for high-power, high-speed devices; apply layout considerations for board integration.
  • Lead lab bring-up, debugging, and implementation of thermal/mechanical constraints on production test platforms.
  • Collaborate with board design, signal integrity, layout, firmware, system-level testing, and production teams.
  • Develop and execute HTOL/reliability test platforms and system-level test interfaces.
  • Work with ATE equipment (testers/probers) and integrate optical interfaces on production ATE systems.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience are listed first, followed by advantages.

  • 2+ years as a Mechanical Design Engineer working with CAD tools and collaborating with board design teams.
  • Experience with lab bring-up, test-platform debugging, and implementing thermal/mechanical constraints for testing and production.
  • Familiarity with digital circuits, power systems, and high-speed design considerations.
  • Project management skills and ability to coordinate across R&D and production groups.
  • Personal skills: self-directed, multi-disciplined, able to manage multiple tasks, and effective interpersonal communication.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with system-level test (SLT) and final test workflows, experience with ATE testers/probers and high-power socket/thermal solutions, and exposure to HTOL/reliability testing or optical interface integration.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
