Role Summary

The Rad Hard Precision Design Group seeks an experienced mask/layout designer to produce top-level and cell-level layouts for radiation-hardened products targeted at space markets. Work areas include power management, precision analog, digital core layouts and digital library development for new process variants.

The role uses the Cadence toolset and requires collaboration with circuit designers, layout designers and CAD/CAE teams. Positions available in Research Triangle Park / Morrisville, NC or Palm Bay, FL.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires extensive experience; the posting specifies a minimum of 15 years of relevant IC layout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include physical layout creation, verification, and mask data handling across hierarchy levels.

• Perform layout at multiple hierarchy levels: top-level floorplanning, macro/block routing and cell layouts.
• Collaborate with circuit designers to develop physical floorplans and package bond diagrams.
• Create high-performance custom analog and mixed-signal cell layouts and perform layout verification.
• Complete physical designs to meet circuit constraints and process design rules.
• Verify layouts against circuit requirements and process constraints.
• Execute mask data release and maintain archival records.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools/methods; work with CAD/CAE to improve layout quality and efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus a concise list of preferred skills.

• Must-have: Minimum 15 years of experience with analog, power or mixed-signal IC layouts.
• Must-have: Strong working knowledge of IC layout methodologies, flows and CAD tools (Cadence Virtuoso and physical verification flows).
• Must-have: Basic understanding of electronic principles relevant to circuit and layout design.
• Must-have: Prior experience with BCD and SOI process technologies.
• Must-have: Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work across design and CAD teams.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with device physics.
