Manufacturing Test Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for designing, developing, validating, and deploying factory test systems and automation for AR/VR hardware. Works with engineering, vendors, supply chain, and manufacturing to define test strategy and integrate test equipment into production and data systems.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience in consumer electronics product development and volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and vendors to deliver production-ready test solutions and diagnose issues during development and ramp.

• Define and implement manufacturing test strategy for NPI and production phases.
• Design and assemble bench setups, test fixtures, and automated test systems with engineering and vendors.
• Evaluate and select suppliers/partners for test equipment and integration.
• Develop test requirements, methodologies, and procedures (First Article, Reliability, Environmental, Production, Final Acceptance).
• Deploy manufacturing tests at vendor sites, troubleshoot equipment and automation issues, and drive corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance to vendor test engineers and technicians.
• Coordinate with suppliers on-site; travel to domestic and international suppliers as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills for immediate contribution.

• 3+ years experience in consumer electronic product development and volume manufacturing.
• In-depth experience with SMT board-level testing or system-in-package testing.
• Familiarity with domestic and international consumer electronics vendors and supply chains.
• Understanding of hardware development and production stage considerations for manufacturability and testability.
• Experience defining test coverage and improving test efficiency during engineering and production.
• Experience with test automation, test frameworks, and coding for hardware test automation.
• Experience managing vendor engineers and technicians and coordinating technical responses.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field (specified in the posting).
