Manufacturing Engineer

Role Summary

Support the Manufacturing Technology team within Silicon Labs Packaging to enable successful NPIs, production qualifications, and business continuity for semiconductor packages. Work across Assembly/Package Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Failure Analysis to drive qualification activities and vendor interactions.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career — requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in assembly manufacturing or a reliability lab environment.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support for package assembly, qualification, and failure analysis across internal teams and contract manufacturers.

• Support Assembly and Module NPIs and second-sourcing programs.
• Coordinate with contract manufacturers (CMs) and OSATs to source and evaluate materials and BOM changes.
• Document test results, approvals, and qualification reports in internal systems.
• Participate in design reviews and verify design files and BOMs received from suppliers.
• Create and execute engineering build requests and track qualification lot progress.
• Support Reliability Engineering activities, including chamber operations and equipment maintenance/calibration coordination.
• Assist Failure Analysis and Device Analysis teams for qualification-related failures and create tracking/process documentation for failed units.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and on-the-job capabilities.

• Minimum 2 years experience in assembly manufacturing or reliability lab environments.
• Proven ability to work with external vendors (CMs/OSATs) and internal stakeholders.
• Familiarity with reliability test equipment, bond diagrams, and assembly materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document results and reports in internal systems.
• Organized approach to tracking qualification lots and cross-team handoffs.

Nice-to-have: basic knowledge of package design rules, experience with engineering builds to qual, and hands-on chamber/equipment operations.

Education Requirements

Diploma in a related engineering field.
