Job Title

Manager, Quantum Systems Validation

Role Summary

Lead a team that validates the performance of one or more integrated quantum subsystems (photonic, optical, cryogenic, electronic, electro‑optical, firmware, and software). The role plans and executes design validation testing, defines automated self‑tests and diagnostics, and develops quantum characterization, verification, and validation techniques.

This is a cross-functional role focused on subsystem integration, test automation, debugging, and delivering performance data to engineering stakeholders.

Experience Level

Senior-level manager. Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Manage and deliver subsystem validation activities, including leadership, planning, and execution:

  • Manage the validation team: technical oversight, project management, talent development, performance evaluations, and coaching.
  • Develop and execute validation and verification plans to meet schedule and performance objectives.
  • Plan and perform system integration tests across hardware, firmware, and software; identify and debug integration issues early.
  • Define, document, and validate calibration, automated self-test, and diagnostic functions for the subsystem.
  • Define and validate quantum tests at intermediate integration points to verify photonic qubit state generation against requirements.
  • Provide cross-functional support: design-for-test input, calibration and data-acquisition requirements, performance reporting, and debugging assistance.
  • Assess in-situ subsystem performance when operated within larger systems.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; candidates may satisfy some or all technical items.

  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional validation projects that integrate optical and electronic hardware, firmware, software, and data infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex experiments or engineering tests and to deliver results under a demanding schedule.
  • Experience with some or all of the following: quantum optics and single-photon generation/detection; quantum characterization, verification, and validation; integrated silicon photonics; mixed-signal/analog/RF electronics design and test; electro-optical device design and test.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and technical experts.
  • Proven team player with effective cross-departmental collaboration across sites and time zones.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment and alignment with company values.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
