Manager, Field Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Lead a team of FPGA field application engineers (FAEs) to drive demand creation, achieve KPIs, and secure design wins by advising customers on FPGA platforms, development tools, silicon and IP. The role combines technical leadership, customer-facing support, and partnership with sales, suppliers and internal engineering/marketing teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8 to 10+ years of direct hardware design or FAE experience. Experience managing a team is an advantage.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on technical leadership, customer support, and cross-functional coordination to convert customer requirements into deployed FPGA solutions.
- Lead and mentor a team of FPGA FAEs; set priorities and drive KPI achievement.
- Drive demand creation and solution selling to win customer designs.
- Build and maintain relationships with customer decision-makers and supplier contacts.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and onsite support for FPGA systems, tools and IP.
- Support customer selection and integration of PLD lines, development tools, silicon and IP to secure design wins.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, field and factory teams to produce technical proposals and resolve product issues.
- Participate in strategic branch meetings and quarterly business reviews; develop supplier- or customer-specific technical plans.
- Gather and communicate customer feedback to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities are listed below. Nice-to-have items are indicated.

Must-have: Strong FPGA architecture and RTL knowledge (experience with platforms such as Agilex, Stratix 10, Cyclone families).

Must-have: Mastery of HDLs (Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog) and experience with Quartus Prime or equivalent toolchains.

Must-have: System-level design experience with high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes) and memory controllers (DDR3/4/5).

Must-have: Board-level hardware troubleshooting including signal integrity and power-delivery diagnostics.

Must-have: Customer-facing presentation skills and the ability to lead technical discussions with CTOs and senior engineers.

Must-have: Experience supporting pre- and post-sales activities and working closely with sales teams to manage opportunity pipelines.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with power-management and memory ecosystems to propose complete system solutions.

Nice-to-have: Experience with AI/ML acceleration toolchains (e.g., FPGA AI Suite, OpenVINO) and deploying edge AI workloads.

Nice-to-have: Embedded systems experience on SoC FPGAs (Nios V / RISC-V or ARM-based), C/C++ development and Linux integration.

Nice-to-have: DSP design experience using tools such as DSP Builder or MATLAB/Simulink for signal-processing applications.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications or a closely related field is requested: BE / BTech / ME / MSc in Electronics and Telecommunications or equivalent academic qualification or equivalent practical experience.
