Job Title

Manager, Design Evaluation Engineering

Role Summary

Manage bench evaluation (post-silicon validation) for new ASIC and SoC products in the Digital ASIC Business Unit at the ADWL (Wilmington, MA) site. Lead and grow a bench evaluation engineering team responsible for silicon bring-up, characterization, debug, and validation across PVT in collaboration with global design, test, and applications teams.

Role requires hands-on technical leadership, coordination with cross-functional teams, and occasional travel (approximately 10%).

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience in high-speed digital validation and product characterization.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing post-silicon evaluation activities and building the evaluation capability for new products.

  • Design and deliver bench hardware and software for complex digital SoCs.
  • Collaborate with design teams on DFT definition and testability improvements early in development.
  • Plan and execute silicon bring-up, functionality verification, characterization, and debug across process/voltage/temperature (PVT).
  • Work with test engineering to develop overall silicon characterization and measurement plans.
  • Supervise and technically mentor the bench evaluation team; participate in hiring and team development.
  • Define system-level use cases and performance benchmarks for validation of MCUs, DSPs, and NPUs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 10+ years hands-on experience in high-speed digital validation of MCUs (e.g. ARM Cortex), DSPs and NPUs.
  • Experience characterizing high-speed interfaces such as DDR3, PCIe, USB, HDMI.
  • Experience validating serial protocols (I²C, I3C, SPI and similar).
  • Experience running system-level performance benchmarks for power and speed.
  • Schematic design and layout review experience for evaluation boards.
  • Experience validating and characterizing mixed-signal analog blocks.
  • Bench software development experience and familiarity with toolchains such as IAR and Keil.
  • Proficient in Python and statistical/analytical methods; capable with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and analyzers.
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills; able to collaborate across global teams and work with test engineers to plan product characterization.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior experience in managerial or team-lead roles within silicon validation or bench evaluation.

Education Requirements

Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (field-level degree specified). No other degrees, certifications, or explicit equivalent-experience language were listed.
