Manager, Chip Software
Role Summary
Lead program management for software development and delivery across the SoC silicon lifecycle, including pre-silicon development, validation, bring-up and productization. Act as the primary program contact for internal platform teams and external partners across Automotive, Data Center, Embedded and Mobile domains.
This role combines technical program coordination, partner engagement, schedule ownership, and cross-team communication to ensure timely, quality software deliverables for SOC projects.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10+ years of relevant experience with at least 4+ years of management or lead experience.
Responsibilities
The manager will coordinate software planning, execution, partner validation, and cross-team communication across the SOC lifecycle.
- Lead software planning and execution for SOC projects: software POR, pre-silicon development, pre-silicon software validation, bring-up and productization.
- Develop and manage partner validation programs: engagement, qualification, onboarding, test execution, and result publication across multiple partners.
- Serve as primary program contact for partners and internal stakeholders; build and maintain strategic relationships to improve execution efficiency.
- Drive simulation and emulation planning and scheduling with Simulation and Emulation teams; prioritize deliverables.
- Ensure teams deliver required artifacts for the Software Product Life Cycle and drive compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Schedule and lead status meetings; communicate progress and risks across distributed software teams.
- Partner with platform teams to define, prioritize, and execute bring-up of custom requirements.
- Coordinate cross-domain communication for chip-related software issues across Automotive, Data Center, Embedded and Mobile groups.

Must-have: 10+ years of experience in related areas and at least 4+ years of management or people-lead experience.

Must-have: Proven technical software project/program management experience in a matrix organization.

Must-have: Deep understanding of the software development life cycle and experience coordinating pre-/post-silicon software activities.

Must-have: Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture (CPU, memory, buses/interconnects), operating systems, and device drivers.

Must-have: Experience managing programs that combine external partner engagement with internal engineering delivery (onboarding through joint go-to-market).

Nice-to-have: Experience leading software for Automotive, Data Center or Mobile SOCs; pre-silicon/post-silicon bring-up experience.

Nice-to-have: Experience building partner lab environments including security, compliance, and legal readiness.

Nice-to-have: Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 26262 and experience delivering safety-compliant software; background in kernel, system software or driver development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field β or equivalent practical experience.
