Manager, ATE Equipment Engineering

Role Summary

Lead the ATE Final Test equipment engineering team to ensure equipment readiness and technical support for new product introductions (NPI), capacity bring-up, yield development, qualification, and production testing.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external developers, and OEM partners to define solutions, improve equipment performance and availability, and drive continuous improvement in the Final Test environment.

Responsibilities

Accountable for delivering equipment readiness, technical issue resolution, and improvements to overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) for ATE Final Test.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of ATE equipment engineers to meet NPI and production targets.
  • Drive equipment readiness before, during, and after product and equipment introductions.
  • Plan equipment capacity, support installations/commissioning, conversions, and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related test issues; establish structured escalation and troubleshooting processes.
  • Partner with hardware developers, product engineers, procurement, OEM suppliers, and external development partners to define and implement solutions.
  • Monitor and improve equipment performance, availability, utilization, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Communicate status, risks, mitigation plans, and progress to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership capabilities required to run Final Test equipment engineering and support NPI execution.

  • Proven experience leading equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, or maintenance teams in a semiconductor test environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ATE Final Test platforms, test handlers, equipment integration, debug, qualification, preventive maintenance, and production support processes.
  • Experience supporting NPI execution, capacity ramp, equipment bring-up, and maintenance.
  • Experience working with global teams, procurement, OEM suppliers, and external development partners to resolve complex equipment and process issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills with a focus on measurable improvements in OEE and readiness.
  • Leadership skills: team development, clear accountability, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with Advantest testers, Cohu or Hontech handlers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (as listed in the posting).
