Job Title

LTD RET Software/Research Engineer

Role Summary

Work on Intel's Logic Technology Development (LTD) Resolution Enhancement Technology (RET) team to develop computational lithography software and algorithms that extend patterning limits and optimize mask and process capability.

Collaborate with lithography, mask manufacturing, and design-rule teams to implement and validate RET/OPC solutions for current and future process nodes.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience range: 3–7 years; specific required years vary by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and validating RET and OPC software and supporting production tapeouts.

  • Design and implement Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) and Resolution Enhancement Techniques (RET).
  • Develop algorithms for pattern layout manipulation and mask recipe optimization.
  • Apply predictive modeling, statistics, and machine learning to analyze fab process data and improve RET algorithms.
  • Optimize and validate OPC recipe code for manufacturability and performance.
  • Support production mask tapeout, RET validation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art RET and semiconductor patterning technologies.
  • Create technical documentation and presentations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and production experience. Preferred items noted separately.

  • Hands-on experience with pattern synthesis and mask layout manipulation.
  • Knowledge of OPC concepts, capabilities, and OPC recipe workflows.
  • Experience implementing and validating algorithms for photolithography imaging and etch pattern transfer compensation.
  • Experience using data analysis, statistical methods, or machine learning for process or imaging problems.
  • Software development experience for algorithm implementation, optimization, and code validation in a production environment.
  • Experience supporting production tapeouts or similar manufacturing validation activities.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and present results to cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have: experience with rule-based OPC synthesis solutions and techniques for advanced technology nodes.

Education Requirements

One of the following in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience: Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of semiconductor industry experience; Master's degree with 4+ years of semiconductor industry experience; Ph.D. with 2+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
