Low-Level Software Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Low-Level Software Engineer
Role Summary
Develop Simics-based virtual test cards (VTC) and validation solutions that emulate physical test cards and validation hardware for HSLE, PV, and other validation environments. Enable pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, system integration, platform bring-up, debugging, and verification.
Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to build simulation, automation, and infrastructure that improve product quality and reduce time-to-market. This role requires on-site presence in Bangalore.
Experience Level
Mid-level; 2β6 years of relevant software engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, validate, and debug Simics-based virtual models and virtual test cards.
- Develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure used for hardware and system validation.
- Integrate virtual models into HSLE, PV, and other validation environments and support platform bring-up.
- Diagnose and debug complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries.
- Improve simulation, automation, and test frameworks to accelerate validation and improve coverage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, validate designs, and document solutions.
- Create and maintain automated tests and CI workflows; use version control effectively.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 2β6 years of professional software engineering experience focused on system or platform-level work.
- Strong C++ and Python development skills with experience maintaining complex software systems.
- Experience in embedded software/firmware development, low-level programming, and hardware-software interaction.
- Solid understanding of the PCI Express (PCIe) protocol (architecture, configuration space, enumeration, data flow).
- Hands-on experience with Simics, simulation environments, virtual platforms, or system-level modeling.
- Proven ability to debug system-level issues spanning hardware, firmware, and software.
- Familiarity with version control systems and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve productivity and code quality.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent technical qualification is acceptable. The posting specifies 2β6 years of experience.
