Lead Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead post-silicon validation of digital SoCs and IP blocks, with ownership of validation plans, test development, board bring-up and automation. Provide technical leadership and coordinate across design, verification, applications, product and test engineering teams to support product release.

Experience Level

Senior-level - 8–12 years of experience in silicon validation, emulation, or equivalent roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Plan and execute post-silicon validation for IP blocks and full SoCs on leading-edge process technologies.
• Develop validation requirements and test plans from reference manuals and design specifications.
• Bring up validation boards and setups; develop and maintain automated validation scripts and environments.
• Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, other measurement instruments) for data collection, debug and characterization.
• Validate and debug silicon to support product release milestones.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior team members.
• Interface with Design, Verification, Applications, Product and Test Engineering, and Marketing as needed.
• Improve validation automation and processes to reduce cycle time.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required:

• Extensive experience in post-silicon validation and/or pre-silicon emulation of digital SoCs.
• Experience validating microcontrollers and understanding of microcontroller architecture and instruction sets.
• Strong programming skills in C and Assembly for firmware and test development.
• Hands-on experience with peripherals such as USB, Ethernet, DDR, PCIe, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART and timers.
• Skilled in using lab instrumentation and in board bring-up and debugging.
• Excellent documentation, verbal communication, and presentation skills; methodical and detail-oriented.

Education Requirements

B.Tech or M.Tech in ECE / Electrical Engineering.
