Lead Test Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver manufacturing and design‑verification test solutions for PCBAs used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Own projects from strategy through implementation, including test hardware, fixtures, and automation software.

Collaborate with customers and cross‑functional teams (design, test, manufacturing, PMO, quality, business development) to deploy and support test solutions at Jabil and customer sites.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects demonstrated test development experience; the posting indicates a minimum of 5 years in test development engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and scope of work:

• Develop manufacturing and design verification test plans for PCBAs used in semiconductor manufacturing systems; evaluate test coverage, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
• Design and specify test hardware and fixtures; integrate off‑the‑shelf equipment and custom test PCBAs.
• Create and maintain automated test software/scripts for volume functional testing.
• Support global manufacturing test teams: implement, optimize, and troubleshoot manufacturing test solutions at multiple sites.
• Perform root cause analysis and data analysis on NPI and volume products to identify test failures and yield issues.
• Produce documentation: test plans, specifications, procedures, hardware requirements, troubleshooting guides, and capability presentations.
• Train and mentor test engineers, technicians, and test operators.
• Support business development by communicating test capabilities and assisting with project budgets and quotes.
• Travel to Jabil and customer sites as required (travel up to ~25% noted).

Requirements

• Must have: Proven experience with functional test of digital and analog PCBAs and test development for volume manufacturing.
• Must have: Hands‑on experience with standard PCBA test equipment (oscilloscopes/digital communication analyzers, DMMs, Ethernet switches, DAQ cards, frequency generators/counters).
• Must have: Experience developing test automation using TestStand, LabVIEW, C/C++, C# or similar languages.
• Must have: Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills; experience analyzing test data to find patterns and issues.
• Must have: Ability to produce clear test documentation and requirements; working proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Nice to have: Experience supporting manufacturing sites that build semiconductor manufacturing equipment and understanding of pre‑FT/FT/ST/ESS test flows.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of structural/manufacturing PCB defects and experience designing cost‑effective volume test stations.
• Self‑starter, team player, accountable with project ownership and mentoring experience.

Education Requirements

Electrical Engineering degree preferred or equivalent practical experience. The posting states a minimum of 5 years' experience in test development engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
