Lead Systems/DSP Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the DSP and system architecture for next-generation high-speed (25G+) physical layer transceivers, owning end-to-end modeling, algorithm development, and silicon validation.
Work cross-functionally with analog, RTL, and physical-design teams to translate algorithms into production-ready, low-power, high-performance silicon for automotive and edge networking applications.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive technical leadership; 10+ years of experience in DSP/system architecture for high-speed communication systems.
Responsibilities
Accountable for system-level DSP architecture and end-to-end validation from concept to silicon.
- Define and own DSP/system architecture for high-speed transceivers, balancing power, performance, and silicon area.
- Drive architectural decisions across DSP, analog front-end, and system partitioning; lead system-level trade-offs.
- Develop and maintain high-fidelity system models using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and/or C++.
- Design, evaluate, and optimize advanced equalization (FFE, DFE, MLSD) and echo cancellation algorithms.
- Architect robust CDR solutions with wide acquisition range and low phase noise; analyze loop dynamics and phase noise.
- Translate system requirements into block-level specifications (AFE, ADC/DAC, PLL, DSP blocks) and align models with hardware realization.
- Lead pre-silicon to post-silicon correlation, support silicon bring-up, characterization, debugging, and lab validation.
- Establish validation methodologies, support compliance testing, and contribute to production ramp readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- 10+ years in DSP/system architecture for high-speed communication systems.
- Deep expertise in digital communications theory, adaptive equalization, echo cancellation, CDR algorithms, phase noise characterization, and channel modeling including nonlinear effects.
- Hands-on experience building system models with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and/or C++.
- Solid understanding of mixed-signal fundamentals: ADC/DAC architectures, PLL behavior, phase noise analysis, and analog front-end non-idealities.
- Proven track record delivering complex systems from concept to silicon and driving cross-functional technical decisions.
- Excellent debugging skills for silicon validation and lab instrumentation.
- Preferred: experience designing high-speed IEEE 802.3 transceivers for automotive, robotics, or data-center applications over optical and copper channels.
- Preferred: prior technical leadership or mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
