Lead System Debug Engineer - AI Rack Validation
Role Summary
Technical lead responsible for post-silicon system and silicon debug for AMD EPYC Server and AMD Instinct products. Own system-level debug, define and execute debug strategy to meet product milestones, and coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (SoC, firmware, software, IP, manufacturing).

Responsibilities
Deliver and lead system debug activities from bring-up through production and improve debug throughput.
- Lead and execute complex debug of silicon, system, firmware, OS, and hardware issues during bring-up, validation, and production.
- Define and implement debug strategy, tools, scripts, and processes to increase throughput and meet POR quality milestones.
- Track technical issues, manage risks and priorities, and un-gate program milestones.
- Publish debug program indicators, identify roadblocks, and drive changes to improve throughput.
- Manage customer and executive communications on program status, risks, and resolutions.
- Drive technical innovation across triage, debug tools, and procedural methodology.
- Collaborate with global teams across time zones and multiple stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have skills first; preferred items noted below.
- Extensive validation and debug experience across OS, firmware, silicon, and hardware.
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, x86 architecture, SoC design, memory, RAS, and power management.
- Experience with platform-level interactions: operating systems, device drivers, and system BIOS.
- Familiarity with industry interconnects and their stacks such as PCIe and CXL.
- Proven analytical/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple work streams to tight deadlines.
- Experience in technical program management and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills; able to manage customer and executive interactions.
- Self-starter able to work independently and in a global environment.
- Location requirement: based in Austin, TX or Secaucus, NJ; role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred: experience with datacenter technologies and software stacks; prior tool and script development for debug automation; experience improving debug methodology.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; posting specifies 15+ years of applicable experience.
