Lead Software Engineer

Role Summary

R&D engineer on the Innovus Implementation System focusing on place-and-route (P&R) software. The role designs, implements, debugs and optimizes tooling used for physical IC implementation and works closely with a global R&D team.

The engineer will also collaborate with product engineers and technical sales to deliver customer-facing engineering solutions and workarounds.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development and support of P&R software and collaboration with internal and customer-facing teams.

• Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for place-and-route flows.
• Implement and maintain C/C++ code running on Linux platforms.
• Analyze and optimize algorithms and data structures for performance and correctness.
• Work with product engineers and technical sales to diagnose customer issues and provide engineering workarounds or fixes.
• Collaborate with a distributed R&D team to integrate features and resolve cross-team issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and qualifications followed by preferred skills.

• Must-have: Strong C/C++ software development experience in a Linux environment.
• Strong understanding and extensive usage of data structures and algorithms.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems.
• Effective communication skills and experience interacting with customers or customer-facing teams.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of physical-design algorithms and familiarity with IC physical-design tool flows.
• Prior R&D experience developing physical-design tools or hands-on use of such tools.
• Experience with Tcl and other scripting languages for automation and tool integration.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required; Ph.D. track is a plus. (Source lists these degrees explicitly.)
