Job Title

Lead Software Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the GUI and core workflow architecture for Quantus Insight, a next-generation parasitic extraction platform in the Quantus Insight R&D (Digital & Signoff) group. Design application architecture using Qt and optimize core data structures and workflows to support very large databases and high-throughput processing.

This role focuses on scalability, multi-threaded performance, IPC/tool interoperability, and production-quality desktop UI development for Linux.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 4–6 years of professional software development experience (posting indicates 4+ years, or 5+ years with an advanced degree).

Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimize the platform-level components that connect backend computation, IPC, and the Qt-based UI for very large datasets.

  • Design high-load dataflows and workflows to move massive datasets between backend engines and UI components.
  • Architect and optimize core, UI-agnostic data structures and algorithms for throughput and memory efficiency.
  • Implement asynchronous multi-threading and parallel processing to isolate heavy background operations from interactive UI threads.
  • Design, implement, and maintain high-performance IPC mechanisms to enable cross-tool data exchange.
  • Expose APIs and application state for programmatic access by SKILL and other tool integration layers.
  • Develop and optimize Qt Widgets and Model/View components for large-scale data presentation (lazy loading, paging).
  • Profile, debug, and tune Linux desktop performance using tools such as GDB and Valgrind.
  • Collaborate with tool teams to build low-latency cross-tool communication and synchronization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience to perform the role.

  • Must-have: Expert modern C++ (C++17 or newer) and STL proficiency.
  • Must-have: Strong Linux development experience, including debugging and performance profiling (GDB, Valgrind).
  • Must-have: Solid software engineering fundamentals: object-oriented design, design patterns, and SDLC practices.
  • Must-have: Experience designing and implementing multi-threaded and parallel processing systems for high-throughput workloads.
  • Must-have: Practical systems/IPC experience (shared memory, sockets, pipes, or equivalent).
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with the Qt framework and building optimized Model/View UI components for large datasets.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SKILL language or other Lisp-dialect programming and integrating tool runtimes.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior EDA experience (parasitic extraction, layout connectivity, physical verification).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting notes 4+ years of professional development experience (or 5+ years with an advanced degree).
