Lead Software Engineer

Role Summary

The Sigrity R&D team at Cadence seeks a lead software engineer to design and implement high-performance numerical algorithms and field solvers for large-scale electromagnetic problems. The role focuses on improving performance, accuracy, and scalability of simulation tools used across Cadence's product ecosystem.

Experience Level

Senior (lead) engineering role. Typical expectation: senior-level experience (often 3+ years in relevant engineering or R&D roles).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, development, and optimization of simulation software and collaboration with product teams.

  • Design, develop, and optimize high-performance algorithms for electromagnetic simulation.
  • Develop and enhance electromagnetic field solvers for large-scale, complex systems.
  • Improve software performance, numerical accuracy, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and maintainable solutions.
  • Participate in architecture and technical decision-making for next-generation products.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience.

  • Strong foundation in computational electromagnetics and circuit theory.
  • Proficiency in C++ and experience writing performance-critical software.
  • Experience developing and maintaining electromagnetic field solvers.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), electromagnetic interference (EMI), and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems and deliver scalable solutions in an R&D environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience influencing architecture and technical direction for product teams.
  • Strong independent and collaborative working skills in fast-paced R&D projects.

Education Requirements

MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in a related field with no additional experience required. (Fields explicitly listed: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics.)
