Job Title

Lead RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer on the SoC Design team responsible for RTL design, integration, and top-level implementation of AMD and third-party IP. Works across IP development, verification, front-end integration, and physical design to deliver SoC logic, power implementation, and connectivity.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 8+ years of SoC design and Verilog RTL development experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for SoC-level RTL design, integration, and delivery across multiple IPs and design domains.

  • Lead SoC-level design and integration activities.
  • Integrate IPs, system interconnect, voltage/clock/reset crossings, fuses, and I/O.
  • RTL design and coding for SoC logic and features.
  • Drive SoC power design and UPF-based low-power implementation tasks.
  • Perform static verification activities: RTL lint, CDC, RDC, power checks, and connectivity checks.
  • Debug simulation and integration issues spanning multiple IPs in collaboration with verification teams.
  • Support top-level synthesis and collaborate with physical design for full-chip implementation.
  • Lead a design domain (integration, power, CDC/RDC, connectivity, or equivalent).

Requirements

Core technical skills and attributes required for success in this role.

  • Must-have:
    • 8+ years of SoC design and Verilog RTL development experience.
    • Experience in CPU, SoC, or ASIC environments.
    • Strong understanding of SoC integration and architecture.
    • Practical experience with system interconnect protocols such as AXI and PCIe.
    • Experience with UPF and low-power design methodologies.
    • Knowledge of static timing analysis (STA) and physical design implementation requirements.
    • Familiarity with scripting (Tcl, Perl, Ruby, Shell) for automation and flows.
    • Knowledge of formal verification techniques and relevant tools.
    • Proven ability to debug complex integration issues across multiple IPs.
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Direct experience with top-level synthesis flows or CPU microarchitecture projects.
    • Prior leadership of an integration or power domain on a full-chip project.
  • Personal attributes: self-driven, strong written and verbal communication, and effective problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

BE / B.Tech or ME / M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (ECE/EEE) or equivalent technical degree; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
