Lead Product Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead validation engineer responsible for system-level validation of Cadence emulation and prototyping products (e.g., Palladium, Protium, Solutions).
Work with R&D, release engineering, product engineering, and customers to design and execute validation plans, automate test infrastructure, analyze failures, and ensure release readiness.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects several years of verification/validation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include planning and executing system validation, driving defect resolution, and maintaining automation and regression infrastructure.
- Develop and execute validation plans, test specifications, and regression strategies for assigned flows.
- Perform system-level validation across Palladium, Protium, and Solutions products/protocols.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test harnesses and regression environments.
- Analyze regression failures, reproduce customer issues, and drive resolution with R&D and cross-functional teams.
- Support release readiness activities, weekly and emergency releases, and ISR validation.
- Track and report quality metrics, coverage, and release risks to management.
- Improve productivity via automation and process improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience relevant to product validation.
- Strong SystemVerilog and UVM verification skills.
- Debugging and failure analysis capability for complex systems.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments.
- Scripting experience (Python, Tcl, Shell) for test automation and tooling.
- Experience with test automation frameworks, regression infrastructure, and CI workflows.
- Familiarity with emulation/prototyping platforms and validation flows.
- Knowledge of Jira/CCR or similar issue-tracking/workflow tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience driving quality and release activities with minimal supervision.
- Nice-to-have: protocol/IP validation or software validation experience.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
