Lead Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead planning, implementation and execution of physical design and verification for processing-subsystem IP to achieve tapeout signoff. Work across block- and top-level implementation, using modern EDA flows and scripting to deliver designs on advanced process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior β preferred 12+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute physical design and verification for processing-subsystem IP to meet signoff criteria for tapeout.
- Perform block-level and top-level implementation, including placement, routing, and signoff iterations.
- Develop and maintain implementation flows for advanced process nodes (5nm or below).
- Use EDA tools and scripting to automate flows, perform timing closure, and prepare deliverables for signoff.
- Collaborate with engineers across different sites and time zones to integrate and validate designs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the implementation team.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
- Must-have: 12+ years of experience in physical implementation and verification of digital designs.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with block- and top-level physical implementation.
- Must-have: Practical experience with lower-node technologies (5nm or below).
- Must-have: Proficiency with industry EDA tools such as Innovus, Fusion Compiler / IC Compiler II, PrimeTime.
- Must-have: Scripting experience (TCL, Python) to automate flows and debugging.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with low-power design techniques and processor design flows.
- Nice-to-have: Prior leadership or mentorship experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
