Job Title

Lead Member of Technical Staff, Analog Engineering

Role Summary

Lead analog and mixed-signal design efforts for complex semiconductor IP. The role drives transistor-level design, verification, silicon bring-up and cross-functional integration for high-performance analog blocks.

Work within an engineering team to define architecture, deliver robust silicon, mentor engineers, and ensure timely releases of analog IP used in customer products.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires many years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal IC design and technical leadership (approx. 8+ years expected).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, design ownership, and delivery of analog/mixed-signal IP:

  • Lead transistor-level analog and mixed-signal circuit design and simulation (SPICE).
  • Define circuit architecture and drive design trade-offs to meet performance, power, and area targets.
  • Plan and execute silicon bring-up, debug, characterization, and performance tuning in lab.
  • Collaborate with layout, verification, firmware, and system teams to ensure correct integration.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide thorough documentation and release packages for IP.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers; lead technical decision-making within the team.

Requirements

The following are expected for successful candidates. Must-haves are listed first; nice-to-haves follow.

  • Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design at transistor level, including circuit simulation and silicon characterization.
  • Must-have: Proven experience with silicon bring-up, lab debug, and using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BERTs, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
  • Must-have: Strong ability to collaborate with layout, verification, and system engineers and to produce release-quality documentation.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience on multi-engineer projects.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed interfaces, PLLs, SerDes, or data converters; familiarity with mixed-signal verification flows and foundry process considerations.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl) and knowledge of EDA tools and flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field is typical; Master's or PhD preferred. Equivalent practical experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design is acceptable.
