Job Title

Lead Frame Designer

Role Summary

Responsible for structural design and layout of semiconductor lead frames and related substrates for package development and production. Deliver design drawings, BOMs and manufacturing specifications, and support sample fabrication through production ramp.

Work with packaging, process, quality and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet electrical, thermal and production requirements.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 3+ years of semiconductor packaging or packaging-test factory production experience.

Responsibilities

Design and document lead frame and substrate structures, pin layouts and package outlines to meet chip and packaging requirements.

  • Create layout drawings, production specifications and BOMs; coordinate with external processors for prototyping.
  • Define pin arrangement and package mechanical details driven by electrical and thermal needs.
  • Support sample verification and production qualification; resolve package-to-frame mismatch and yield issues.
  • Adapt frame designs to manufacturing processes (die attach, wire bonding, molding) and optimize for throughput and yield.
  • Track and incorporate industry frame-structure improvements and process changes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; followed by preferred items.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor packaging production or packaging-test factory mass production.
  • Familiar with semiconductor packaging process flow, production SOPs, line operations and cleanroom practices.
  • Proficient in failure/exception analysis, 8D reporting and yield-improvement processes.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional work with manufacturing, R&D and quality teams; independent problem-solving and project execution skills.
  • Able to support shift schedules and emergency overtime as required; proficient with Office software.
  • Preferred: experience with AutoCAD, Altium Designer or similar mechanical/layout tools.
  • Preferred: experience with copper or silver frame manufacturing processes.

Education Requirements

Full-time Bachelor's degree or above in Microelectronics, Electronic Information, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Automation, Measurement & Control Engineering, or a related engineering/science field.
