Job Title
Lead Engineer - SW Design
Role Summary
Join the Bluetooth R&D team to design and deliver embedded firmware for resource-constrained wireless systems, with emphasis on performance-critical, standards-compliant features and audio use cases. The role is hands-on and requires ownership of firmware features from design through release while collaborating with systems, PHY/RF, validation, and customer-facing teams.
Experience Level
Senior β 5 to 10 years of industry experience in embedded firmware or systems-level software development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, debugging, and ownership of embedded firmware features.
- Design, implement, and maintain real-time embedded firmware in C/C++ for resource-constrained systems.
- Own complex firmware features from design through implementation, debugging, and release.
- Develop timing-critical, performance-sensitive code with strong attention to memory, power, and CPU constraints.
- Debug complex system-level issues spanning firmware, hardware, and protocol interactions.
- Contribute to multi-protocol and wireless coexistence (CoEx) solutions.
- Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and product qualification activities.
- Collaborate closely with systems, PHY/RF, validation, and customer-facing engineering teams.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Hands-on embedded firmware development experience with strong proficiency in C/C++.
- Solid understanding of real-time systems, interrupts, concurrency, and low-level hardware interactions.
- Experience building memory- and power-optimized embedded software.
- Strong debugging skills using hardware and software tools (JTAG, trace, logs, protocol analyzers, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive technical solutions and make sound design decisions.
- Experience delivering embedded software products from concept through production.
- Experience providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
-
Nice-to-have: Bluetooth Classic and/or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE); Bluetooth audio use cases (audio streaming, HFP, LE Audio); Bluetooth controller architectures and wireless protocol stacks; wireless coexistence (CoEx) and multi-protocol systems; automation, scripting, CI practices; exposure to GenAI-assisted development tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
