Lead Engineer Senior - Performance Modeling
QualcommJob Title
Lead Engineer Senior - Performance Modeling
Role Summary
Responsible for end-to-end system architecture definition and validation for low-power Audio and Edge-AI ASIC subsystems used across mobile, XR, compute, and automotive products. The role drives architecture, requirements capture, system-level modelling, power/performance optimization, and post-silicon support.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8β10+ years in ASIC design/verification for ASIC-focused roles; Systems Engineering paths listed accept lower experience (approximately 3+ years) depending on degree and background.
Responsibilities
Design, validate, and optimize ASIC subsystem architectures and lead technical execution.
- Own end-to-end system architecture for Audio/Edge-AI subsystems.
- Capture detailed technology and product requirements with cross-functional teams.
- Develop subsystem hardware specifications and define module interfaces.
- Create and run architecture validation plans using system simulation and modelling.
- Perform power and performance optimization and debugging via modelling and testing.
- Use HDL/C/C++/SystemC and scripting for simulation, analysis, and automation.
- Provide post-silicon commercialization support and author customer-facing documentation.
- Lead small to large projects and mentor or own team deliverables.
Requirements
Core technical skills and hands-on experience required; education details are in Education Requirements below.
- Proven experience in ASIC system architecture, design, or verification.
- Experience with system performance analysis and modelling for power and performance targets.
- Proficiency with HDL (Verilog/VHDL), SystemC, and high-level modelling tools (MATLAB/SIMULINK).
- Familiarity with ASIC EDA tool flows (Synopsys/Cadence/Mentor) and power analysis tools.
- Programming/scripting skills (Python, Perl, TCL, C/C++).
- Knowledge of low-power design methodologies and optimization techniques.
- Experience with DSP, machine-learning algorithm integration, or SoC hardware concepts.
- Strong technical writing and ability to produce architecture/specification documents.
- Nice-to-have: prior patents or invention contributions; post-silicon bring-up and customer engineering experience; experience in audio or edge-AI product domains.
Education Requirements
Degrees and years referenced in the posting include: Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering or related field (with ~10+ years ASIC experience), Master's degree in Science/Engineering or related field (with ~8+ years ASIC experience), or PhD in a related field. An alternate set lists Bachelor's in Engineering/Information Systems/Computer Science with ~3+ years Systems Engineering experience, Master's with ~2+ years, or PhD with ~1+ year. Fields cited: engineering, computer science, information systems, science, or related technical disciplines.
