Lead Embedded Software Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop embedded software components and peripheral drivers as part of a core embedded team supporting ASIC and system bring-up. Work across hardware and software teams to debug, optimize, and influence future product designs for next-generation AMD systems.
Experience Level
Senior — 12+ years of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, integration, and validation of low-level embedded software for multiple execution environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain peripheral drivers (SPI, I3C, OSPI, SD/eMMC, UFS, USB, Ethernet, etc.) for Linux, Zephyr, and bare-metal.
- Participate in ASIC and hardware bring-up and debug activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues.
- Collaborate with architecture and silicon teams to influence product and IP design.
- Use data-driven methods to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Track emerging software/hardware trends and propose improvements.
- Build and maintain technical relationships with peers and partners across teams.

- Must-have: Extensive embedded C programming experience and device driver development.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with Linux kernel or RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS) in embedded products.
- Must-have: Proven hardware/SoC bring-up and hardware-software integration experience.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of ARM and/or RISC-V architectures.
- Must-have: Familiarity with Git and version-control best practices.
- Nice-to-have: Basic scripting (Python) and familiarity with additional tooling or automation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience influencing silicon/architecture design and working with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; leadership and collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), or Computer Science & Engineering (CSE).
