Job Title

Lead DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Lead member of AMD's DFT (Design-for-Test) team responsible for delivering test architecture, patterns, and silicon bring-up activities to achieve first-pass silicon success. The role interfaces with DFT Architecture, IP design, Physical Design and Product Engineering to plan and execute pre- and post-silicon test solutions.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant DFT/ASIC experience as indicated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical ownership of test insertion, pattern generation, and silicon bring-up:

  • Define and implement scan architecture and scan features for complex SoCs.
  • Perform scan insertion and ATPG pattern generation (stuck-at, transition ATPG, IDDQ).
  • Run GLS, timing-aware and power-aware simulations for test and validation.
  • Analyze test coverage and drive test-cost reduction strategies.
  • Lead yield analysis, root-cause debugging, and recovery actions for design issues.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute post-silicon bring-up activities.
  • Provide extensive silicon debug for phasing closure and production enablement across technology nodes.
  • Contribute to multiple SoC tape-outs and post-silicon bring-ups.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in DFT and scan architecture for ASIC/SoC designs.
  • Proven experience with scan insertion and ATPG pattern generation (stuck-at, transition, IDDQ).
  • Experience with GLS, timing- and power-aware simulation flows.
  • Experience performing test coverage analysis and test-cost reduction techniques.
  • Strong experience in yield analysis, root-cause debug, and production recovery workflows.
  • Demonstrated post-silicon bring-up planning, coordination, and execution experience across process nodes.
  • Track record of multiple SoC tape-outs and post-silicon debug to production.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Mentor TestKompress and/or Synopsys Tetramax/DFTMAX.
  • Familiarity with VCS simulation, Perl/Shell scripting, and Verilog RTL.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electronics, VLSI, or Electrical Engineering (as listed in the posting).
