Lead Customer Engagement Engineer
Role Summary
The Lead Customer Engagement Engineer provides technical support and drives resolution of complex issues for Cadence HSV products including Palladium, Protium and Virtual Protocol (PDAPP). This role works with customers, field application engineering teams, and R&D to debug failures, validate fixes, and spec enhancements.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in digital design/verification or applications engineering/technical support.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include technical ownership of customer issues and collaboration across teams to resolve them.
- Own and drive to resolution product issues reported by field AEs and customers.
- Debug customer failures, create test cases to reproduce issues, and log and track defects with R&D.
- Recommend workarounds or application-level solutions when needed.
- Test and validate R&D fixes, patches, and new releases.
- Work with customers and internal teams to scope and specify enhancement requests.
- Test new product features and participate in internal beta activities for upcoming hardware and software releases.
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Occasional travel to customer sites to resolve critical issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in design and/or verification of complex digital designs, or in applications engineering/technical support roles.
- Strong design debug techniques and understanding of logic design.
- Familiarity with verification methodologies used in complex EDA environments.
- Proficiency in HDL: Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL; ability to write test cases to reproduce customer issues quickly.
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux and shell scripting (ksh/bash/csh).
- Knowledge of PCIe, USB and Ethernet protocols.
- Experience with SVA, SystemVerilog coverage, and low-power flows (UPF).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical issues to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer support.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (BS-EE/CE). A Master of Science in EE/CE is preferred. The role expects a minimum of five years of relevant experience in design and/or verification of complex digital designs or equivalent practical experience in applications engineering/technical support.
