Lead CPU Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification for high-performance CPU cores within the AMD Cores design & verification group. Responsible for feature verification planning, testbench and stimulus development, debug, coverage closure, and coordination with cross-functional teams to drive tapeout-quality verification.

Senior β 14+ years of CPU verification experience (specified in posting).
Responsibilities
Deliver technical verification leadership for CPU features from planning through coverage closure and tapeout support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand features and cross-feature dependencies.
- Create and review high-level test plans specifying stimulus, debug approach, and coverage goals.
- Develop directed and random tests, debug failures, file RTL/verification bugs, and fix testbench issues.
- Drive functional coverage (FCOV) to closure; develop additional stimulus or checkers as required.
- Implement C++ checkers and verification infrastructure when needed; evaluate and extend stimulus coverage.
- Recreate and debug Post-Silicon issues when required.
- Provide technical leadership: mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, coordinate cross-team execution, and drive verification process and methodology improvements.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance coaching to build and develop the verification team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and leadership experience necessary to perform the role; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: 14+ years of CPU verification experience with demonstrated leadership of verification teams and delivery of large-scale CPU/SoC programs.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of computer architecture, micro-architecture and hardware debug methodologies.
- Must-have: Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog and C++ for verification; strong debug skills and ability to triage RTL/testbench failures.
- Must-have: Familiarity with x86 assembly.
- Must-have: Strong communication, stakeholder management, project planning and prioritization skills.
- Nice-to-have: Shell/Perl scripting, experience with formal verification tools (VSI-FV/JASPER/IFV/IEV), emulation, post-silicon debug, and verification automation/methodology improvements.
Education Requirements
B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering as specified in the posting.
