Lead CPLD Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate CPLD/FPGA logic and subsystems for server and storage products, focusing on power-on sequencing and control. Work with hardware, BIOS, BMC, and firmware teams to implement, test, and maintain production designs under the guidance of management or a lead engineer.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of relevant CPLD/FPGA development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and coordination with cross-functional teams.

• Develop CPLD/FPGA designs for server/storage power-on sequence control and related control logic.
• Write and maintain RTL (Verilog/VHDL) code, build flows, and test benches; run simulations and validate designs.
• Collaborate with Hardware, BIOS, BMC, and Firmware teams to integrate and validate designs.
• Create test plans, development specifications, and track issues through resolution.
• Introduce new technology and design concepts into CPLD/FPGA implementations.
• Escalate complex design issues to senior team members or management as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and behavioral expectations.

• 5+ years of hands-on CPLD/FPGA development experience (design, coding, simulation, and builds).
• Proficient in Verilog or VHDL and RTL design practices.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, and SGPIO protocols.
• Familiarity with RTL simulation, test benches, and version control (Git).
• Experience building CPLD/FPGA projects with coding standards and CI/build practices.
• Good English communication skills and ability to work on global teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Nice-to-have: SystemVerilog, UVM, and server-product experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, or practical experience accepted.
