Lead Automotive Use Cases Validation Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Lead Automotive Use Cases Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead validation strategy and end-to-end use case validation for Automotive Virtualization on AMD platforms, focusing on Xen-based virtualization, multi-OS domains (Android, Yocto, FreeRTOS/SafeRTOS), IVI features, graphics, and Ryzen AI workloads.
Work across hypervisor, OS domains, drivers, and system-level performance with firmware, kernel, virtualization, graphics, and AI teams to deliver automotive compute platforms.
Experience Level
Senior β Lead level role. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validation, automation, debugging, performance tuning, and cross-team collaboration to deliver robust automotive virtualization and IVI features.
- Define and execute validation strategies for Xen-based virtualized platforms across Android, Yocto, and FreeRTOS domains.
- Validate virtio device pipelines (camera, audio, media, GPU, NPU) and device passthrough (UART/I2C/SPI).
- Optimize and validate boot flows across firmware β hypervisor β OS, including S3 & S5 states.
- Validate compositor, display, GPU workflows, projection (Android Auto, CarPlay), and IVI-related features.
- Lead system-level debug, performance tuning, mixed-criticality validation, and recovery flows.
- Support Secure Boot validation, safety flows, and cybersecurity-related checks.
- Develop and drive automation for test suites covering virtualization, boot flows, OS domains, and IVI scenarios.
- Collaborate with firmware, kernel, virtualization, graphics, and AI teams to triage and resolve system issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items noted at the end.
- Strong programming in C/C++ and scripting (Python, Shell) for automation and test development.
- Hands-on experience with Linux kernel internals, hypervisors (especially Xen), device drivers, and bootloaders.
- Experience with multi-VM orchestration, virtio pipelines, device passthrough, and SoC power states.
- Test automation experience: developing and automating test suites; familiarity with PyTest and CI pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab).
- Proven system-level debugging and performance tuning across firmware, hypervisor, and OS domains.
- Experience validating graphics/display pipelines, compositors, and IVI workflows.
- Knowledge of safety-critical validation, crash fallback, and mixed-criticality flows.
- Preferred: cloud/AI validation (AWS/GCP VAS), Ryzen AI workloads, HiFi5 audio pipeline validation, and experience with FreeRTOS/SafeRTOS.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
