Job Title

Lead Analog IC Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Senior technical lead in the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) organization responsible for delivering complex analog IC layouts for high‑performance test systems. The role drives layout architecture, verification, and tapeout decisions and partners with cross‑functional and global teams to meet product and production requirements.

Primary responsibilities include solving advanced layout problems, leading projects and teams, mentoring junior engineers, and developing layout methodologies and process optimizations that improve productivity and product quality.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 7+ years of relevant IC layout experience.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities focus on ownership of complex layout blocks, technical leadership, and delivery through tapeout.

  • Own layout for complex blocks: scheduling, floor planning, verification, and tapeout.
  • Make critical IC architecture and layout decisions that shape product development.
  • Lead complex layout projects and provide technical leadership across teams.
  • Mentor and train junior layout engineers; act as primary technical resource.
  • Perform advanced process evaluations and optimizations to meet performance and manufacturability goals.
  • Develop and maintain layout methodologies, automation, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with global teams to integrate layout with design, verification, and test requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where appropriate.

  • Expert-level proficiency in analog IC layout and architecture design.
  • Extensive experience with Cadence Virtuoso and strong VXL expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of LVS, DRC, antenna checks and verification/debug methodologies.
  • Proven technical leadership and experience leading teams and complex projects.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative layout methodologies and process improvements.
  • Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time; daytime shift.
  • Preferred: prior experience in ATE or instrumentation contexts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field) is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
