Lead Analog IC Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Lead IC layout engineer responsible for delivering complex analog/layout blocks for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) products. The role reports into the ATE organization and provides technical leadership across layout, floor‑planning, verification, and tapeout activities.

The position is a senior technical role that leads projects, mentors junior engineers, and influences architecture and process decisions with measurable impact on product performance and manufacturability.

Experience Level

Senior level - expects 7+ years of relevant IC layout or analog/mixed‑signal design experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for ownership and execution of complex IC layout projects and for driving technical excellence across teams.

  • Own layout of complex blocks: scheduling, floor planning, verification, and tapeout.
  • Lead teams and projects, make critical IC architecture and layout decisions.
  • Develop and implement layout methodologies and best practices to improve productivity and results.
  • Perform advanced process evaluations and optimize layouts for manufacturability and performance.
  • Serve as primary technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers.
  • Collaborate with global cross‑functional teams (design, verification, process) to resolve issues and drive delivery.
  • Support verification/debug flows including LVS, DRC, and antenna checks as part of sign‑off.
  • Travel as required for project work and cross‑site collaboration (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • Proven technical leadership with recognized influence on design decisions.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in IC layout and architecture design for analog/mixed‑signal blocks.
  • Strong Cadence Virtuoso experience, including VXL usage.
  • Deep familiarity with LVS, DRC, antenna checks and verification/debug methodologies.
  • Experience developing layout methodologies and process innovations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead multi‑discipline teams.
  • Effective collaborator in global, distributed teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
